What is a sort code?

Sort code is a 6-digit UK bank branch identifier used for bank transfers.

A sort code identifies the UK bank branch for your account.

It is usually shown as three pairs of digits, e.g. 12-34-56.

Customers need sort code and account number to pay by bank transfer.
