What is a receipt?

A receipt confirms payment was received. It is different from an invoice.

An invoice asks for payment. A receipt confirms payment has already been made.

A receipt usually includes who paid, how much, date, and what the payment was for.

Use receipts as proof for customers and for your own records.

Guidance only. Keep receipts and invoices according to UK record-keeping requirements.
